Insurance & Billing
Do you take insurance?
Yes. I am in-network and can bill the following insurances:
Moda
PacificSource
Providence
Regence / Blue Cross Blue Shield / HMA / Regence Group Administrators
If you have health insurance not listed above, and would like to seek out-of-network reimbursement, I am able to provide you with a super-bill for our appointments.
When working with couples, I am generally unable to bill insurance; insurance typically only covers therapy when the focus of treatment is a mental health condition, and treatment is considered medically necessary. Typically, the focus of couples therapy is on topics like communication, intimacy, sex, parenting, etc., which is usually not covered by health insurance.
What are your session fees, if I plan to pay privately?
I charge $200 for most 1 hour sessions, though certain types of session may be less or more. I do have a sliding scale based on financial need.
Do you take Medicare or Medicaid (OHP)?
No, I do not take either Medicare or Medicaid at this time. It may be possible to pay privately with Medicare or Medicaid, although extra steps are required for this to be legally permitted. (If interested, please be sure to let me know that you have Medicare or Medicaid and I can walk you through our options.)
Can I use my Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA) card?
Yes! You can use these cards to pay for co-pays and deductibles when using insurance, or for private pay appointments.
Procedures and Policies
Do you work with kids?
No, I only work with adults at this time. I do have extensive previous experience working with children, and am also a parent; I am familiar with child development, common challenges, and parenting issues. Kids are a common topic in therapy for many of my clients, but I only work directy with adults.
Do you offer telehealth?
Yes. Although I encourage clients to attend in person when able, virtual therapy is offered as an option for those who need it, either temporarily (such as in the case of illness, surgery, travel, new baby, etc.) or permanently (when geographically distant from Eugene, disability, etc.). Clients must be located within Oregon at the time of therapy.
How often will we meet?
Typically, clients will meet with me once per week or once every two weeks. We will decide what interval will meet your needs during our intake process, and this may evolve over time. (For example, often clients will start out meeting weekly and will reduce frequency after they are starting to see significant improvements.)
Will you have room on your schedule for me?
I try very hard to make sure that I only onboard clients if I can realistically see them at an interval necessary to to meet their goals. I have found that it works best to establish a dedicated, recurring timeslot for each client. That way, everybody has a consistent appointment time that is "theirs" until they no longer need it, and they don't have to "compete" for available appointment times.
How long will therapy take?
This varies considerably based on a client's presenting issues and their goals. I suppose that a typical treatment course may average around 6 months. However, some clients have a very specific issue and are complete within just a few sessions. Others continue to benefit from therapy long-term, and may continue for years. I am open to different ways of approaching length of treatment; my only requirement in this regard is that for us to continue, it must be clear that you are continuing to benefit from therapy.
What is your attendance policy?
I require that clients cancel appointments at least 24 hours in advance. This allows me enough time to offer this opening to other clients who are waiting. I charge a cancellation fee of $125 for no-shows and cancellations within the 24 hour window.
I also require that clients arrive for therapy no later than 15 minutes after our scheduled time, at which point the appointment will be considered a no-show and the fee will be charged.
